Replacing an old radiator

Send me a photo of the whole radiator and close-ups of the connections at each end. Include its height, width and the distance between the pipe connections if you can measure it.

Those details help me see whether the replacement will fit the existing connections or whether the pipes need adapting. The heat output matters as well as the size, especially if you’re switching to a slim or vertical design.

Moving a radiator

A different position can free up useful wall space. I can assess the new location, plan the pipe route and explain the work involved before you decide.

Access under floors or through walls affects the price. If you want pipes concealed, we’ll also agree what is included in the pipework and chasing and which finishing work needs arranging afterwards.

Towel rails and thermostatic valves

I fit replacement towel rails and can discuss radiator valves and room controls. For a bathroom, let me know whether the towel rail is expected to heat the room as well as dry towels. That changes the output we need to allow for.

Already chosen a radiator? Send me the model before ordering. I can check the connection layout and discuss whether it suits the room.

One room cold while the others are warm?

The radiator itself may be fine. Air, a valve issue, restricted flow or the balance of the system can all affect how a room heats. Tell me whether the problem affects one radiator or several, and whether it has always been like that.

I’ll check the cause before recommending new parts. If balancing or a valve adjustment is the sensible next step, I’ll explain it.

What does radiator work cost?

The first hour is €135 incl. BTW including call-out, then €95 incl. BTW per hour. Radiators, valves and other materials are separate.

A straightforward swap can be quicker than moving a radiator or changing concealed pipework. Send the photos and measurements and I’ll give you a useful estimate for your job. For several radiators, include the whole list so I can plan the work together.

Yes. I will assess the position, pipe route and access, then explain the work and any finishing needed.

It needs enough output for the room at the temperatures your heating system uses. I can help check the model you are considering.

No. The cause can be air, a valve, restricted flow or system balance. I check the problem before recommending replacement.
