Planning a job in Schagen
Schagen is about 30 minutes from Medemblik. Tell me when you message how urgent it is, and we’ll plan a boiler replacement together in advance. The villages around it are on the same route, and I’m happy to go out to a farm or a holiday home.
Send photos of the boiler, the flue and the space around it. In a farmhouse or a converted barn, a photo of where the pipes run to the far rooms helps too.
Good to know in Schagen
- Homes from the 1970s and a lot of farmhouses. The largest group of homes in the town of Schagen was built between 1970 and 1980. Around it, the gemeente has 99 national monuments, many of them stolpboerderijen, and a stolp consultant who advises owners.
- Boilers are staying for now. Schagen’s heat vision aims for 20 per cent of homes to be ready to go gas-free by 2030. In May 2026 the neighbourhood team for the north of the town advised against one big heat network and favoured insulation and heat pumps. For most homes that means a well-maintained boiler for years yet, and a hybrid heat pump as a sensible next step.
- Free energy advice. The gemeente offers a free, independent energy desk and energy coach visits, plus an insulation subsidy. Worth a call before you replace a boiler or insulate.
- Water and pipes. PWN supplies the water. Its water is soft, so limescale in the boiler is less of a worry. In homes built before 1960, check for lead drinking-water pipes.

Boiler replacements are quoted as a fixed price after I have assessed the job. A standard CW4 installation is typically €1,995-€2,495 incl. BTW, with the full scope confirmed in writing. See the prices page for the other installation options.
