Planning a job in Haarlem
Haarlem is about an hour from Medemblik, so I plan my Haarlem visits ahead rather than dropping in. A boiler replacement or a planned service fits that well. If you have other jobs in mind, such as a radiator or a dripping tap, tell me when you book so I can do them in the same visit.
Send photos of the boiler, the flue and the space around it. In a flat, tell me which floor you’re on and how I get in and park.
Good to know in Haarlem
- A city full of monuments. Haarlem has 1,177 national monuments. Changing a monument usually needs a permit from the gemeente, which can take weeks. Replacing a boiler in the same spot, with the same flue route, is the simplest way to avoid that. If a new position or flue is needed, ask the gemeente’s monuments desk before we plan it.
- Schalkwijk and its heat network. Schalkwijk was built mainly in the 1960s and is largely flats. Around 1,200 housing-association homes in Meerwijk are due to join a heat network between 2028 and 2030. If you own your home there, check the plans before replacing your boiler.
- Lead pipes in older homes. Homes built before 1960 can still have lead drinking-water pipes indoors. PWN, which supplies Haarlem, has replaced its own connections; the pipes inside are the owner’s to replace. PWN’s water is soft, so limescale in the boiler is less of a worry.

My rate is €114.95 incl. BTW per hour, with no call-out charge. A boiler service is €145 incl. BTW plus materials.
Boiler replacements are quoted as a fixed price after I have assessed the job. A standard CW4 installation is typically €1,995-€2,495 incl. BTW, with the full scope confirmed in writing. See the prices page for the other installation options.

Work is booked by appointment and I don’t run a 24-hour service. Because Haarlem is an hour away, I may not be able to come the same day for a breakdown; I’ll tell you honestly when you message.
